Radio stations put off air

(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON, Aug. 31. An electrical storm over Hamilton last night put the N.Z.B.C.’s two radio stations, IZH and IYW, out of action. , Lightning from the storm hit the transmitting mast for the station at Hillcrest, setting fire to the aerial complex unit closure on the mast. The closure was destroyed. A spokesman for the N.Z.B.C. said IZH was broadcasting at half power on an emergency transmitter today but probably would be at full power tonight. The other station, IYW, would be out of action till the end of the week, he said.
