Hockey side for S.A.
(N.Z. Preu Asin —Copyright! SYDNEY. An Australian hockey team is to visit South Africa later this year after competing in the inaugural World Cup hockey tournament in Spain. The Australian Hockey Association announced the proposed nine-day visit in Sydney on Monday night. The decision had been made in May, the announcement said. The chairman of the South Africa Hockey Union (Mr D. Metter) said it was only possible for three matches —all international—to be held, says a message from Johannesburg. The Australians will play three tests—in Cape Town on October 28, Johannesburg on October 30, and in Durban on November 3.
Rugby.—The touring Seven Hills (Sydney) under 16 Rugby team, which is at present making a tour of Canterbury, was beaten 13-3, by a combined Culverden high schools team at Kalapoi yesterday In the curtain-raiser to the Marlborough-Canterbury Subunions representative match .
Golf.—Miss B. Dalgleish, aged 40, today became Australia’s first woman resident professional golfer.
