Promising well for Woodside

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, Aug. 31.

Woodside Oil, NL, reported today that its Rankin No. 2 well, 110 miles north-west of Point Samson, Western Australia, had encountered high values on the gas detection equipment while drilling below 9500 ft in porous sandstone.

A 25ft core cut from 9521 ft to 9546 ft contained porous sandstone With minor claystone interbeds.

The sandstone horizon appears to be at the same stratigraphic level as the discovery at North Rankin No. 1.

Woodside said that the significance of the show will be evaluated by wireline logging together with deeper drilling and subsequent testing.

PROPERTY SOLD LIVINGSTONE and CO., have sold the section Lot 54 Ranui Crescent, Diamond Harbour. PROPERTY VALUERS. —Advt
