U.S. attorney found dead

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) HOLLYWOOD, Aug. 2.

The battered body of an assistant attorney whose throat was cut has been found in a wooded area near Hollywood. The body, that of Mr Michael Heuer, aged 35, the assistant chief of the criminal division of the United States Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles, was found wrapped in a blanket and hidden undec bushes in a ravine.

Gordon Yates, aged 36, and Katherine Lamb, aged 26, both of the same address in Hollywood, have been arrested on suspicion of murder. The police believe that Mr Heuer picked up Lamb on Thursday on Sunset Strip, the stretch along Sunset Boulevard, between Hollywood and Beverly Hills, and that the victim was clubbed on the head with a pipe in the couple’s flat, and dragged into a bathroom, where his throat was cut.
