MEETING OF STARS CELEBRATED.—The streets of Hiratsuka City, Japan, are gaily decorated as thousands of Japanese pay homage to the Herdsman, represented by a star in the constellation of Aquila, and the Weaver, the star Vega, which according to legend, dwell on opposite sides of the Milky Way and meet once a year as lovers. In Japan, the star festival is known as the Tanabata Matsuri.
