Bankrupt began club
A man who formed a soccer club at Sumner and incurred considerable debts on its behalf admitted liabilities of $1682 at a meeting of creditors yesterday. Francis Tripp, aged 44, an auctioneer’s assistant, of Boon Street, revealed that he had.incurred debts amounting to $461 in obtaining sports equipment and other goods for the Sumner Association Football Club.
He told the meeting that the club had got into difficulties and that he was personally responsible for the debts because the club had never been registered as an incorporated society. He gave as his reason for bankruptcy being involved in a traffic accident with two taxis. His old vehicle was not insured.
He disclosed assets amounting to $7O, including football gear worth $6O. The Deputy Official Assignee (Mr L. Anderson), who conducted the meeting, was instructed to sell the assets by private treaty if he thought this was the best way of disposing of them.
