I The Christchurch Transport Board is alone among the transport authorities of New Zealand’s main centres in not granting reduced fares up to 4 pjn. for senior citizens, according to a report from the Christchurch Senior Citizens’ Association. The report, given after the association’s half-yearly meeting. said that many members could not afford to take advantage of the facilities available because of increased bus fares. It said that any curtailment of benefits within the association “inevitably falls most heavily on those whose need is greatest.” “With a record membership of more than 500 the problem becomes more urgent every year," said the! report.
