NORTHERN CONTEST

Placings for gymnast

Several of Canterbury’s top gymnasts competed in the Wellington championships at Upper Hutt last week-end, and although none gained a title, a number performed creditably and were in the rtiinor placings. The women’s A grade was won by the New Zealand representative, Mrs J. Anderson (nee Clarke), of Napier, and Miss L. Blaikie, of Christchurch, produced a very good performance to take second place, less than a point and a half behind her. Miss S. Brooks, of Christchurch, was second in the women’s B grade, .9 points behind the winner. A feature of the event was that Miss Brooks again beat Miss D. Forbes, also of Christchurch. She beat Miss Forbes a week earlier in the Canterbury championships. Miss Forbes has been chosen in the New Zealand team to compete in Australia next month, but Miss Brooks has not been included in the team. Placings included:— Women’s A grade.—Mrs J.
