JUMBO JET “RUNS OUT OF SPACE” AT SYDNEY AIRPORT.—A Pan American Boeing 747 after overshooting a runway a few days ago at the end of a flight from Los Angeles, Honolulu, and Nandi. As the airliner slewed from the runway, its wheels ploughed a deep channel in soft earth and grass. The lower photograph shows wheels embedded in mud. No-one was hurt, and many of the 265 passengers did not realise what had happened until they left the plane, which stopped near a 10fthigh concerte wall and about 200 ft short of Cooks River. A spokesman for the airline said later that the pilot of the Boeing had “run out of space.”
