48 Blues named
Forty-eight persons in 17 sports will receive their Blues at the annual presentation dinner on Friday evening, at which the Canterbury University “Sportsman of the Year” will also be named. A notable feature of the list of Blues is that Miss G. Hannam is a double winner for the third year in succession. She receives her awards in basketball and athletics. The Blues winners are:— Soccer, I. Porteous; swimming, A. B. Kindred; water polo, P. G. C. Hay; rowing, T. Coker, D. Pickerill. V. Allen, P. Walker, J. Harding, B. Rowe; men’s hockey, J. H. Christensen, J. J. Borren, B. J. Maister, T. Borren, P. D. Ackerley, W. Wright; judo, J. Pearce. Rugby, W. J. Lewis, L. W. Jones. A. E. Matheson, H. T. Joseph; men’s basketball, J. Culliford, T. Guthrie, P. Stigley, A. Hessel; women’s basketball, Misses G. Hannam and S. Lee; cross-country. K. B. O’Sullivan, N. Prosser; women’s hockey, Mrs K. McDonald, Misses S. Borren, P. McMorran.
