UNIVERSITY OF CANTERBURY THE COUNCIL OF THE UNIVERSITY invites applications for the following vacancies which include a number of new positions to be filled for the first time in 1972: SENIOR LECTURER OR LECTURER IN ECONOMICS Applicants may have qualifications in any of the main areas of Economics, Econometrics, or Operations Research. SENIOR LECTURERS OR LECTURERS IN EDUCATION Two positions; (i) child development, the appointee will be expected to assist with both theoretical and practical aspects of the child development courtes at all levels; (ii) New Zealand education, the appointee will be responsible for teaching both the historical foundations and the contemporary status of, and trends in New Zealand education. SENIOR LECTURER OR LECTURER IN ENGLISH Special experience in the study or teaching of American literature will be regarded as desirable but not as an essential qualification. SENIOR LECTURER OR LECTURER IN GEOGRAPHY Applications are particularly invited from persons with interests in resource analysis and evaluation; economic geography; urban geography. Teaching i’iterest and field experience in the geography of North America or Europe would be advantageous. ASSISTANT LECTURER IN MUSIC Applicants should indicate their particular teaching and research interests as well as any practical sphere of instrumental or vocal music for which they are qualified professionally. ASSISTANT LECTURER IN RELIGIOUS STUDIES Applicants should have graduated in Religious Studies or a related discipline. An interest in Polynesian (especially Maori) religion, or Chinese and Japanese religons, would be advantageous but not essential. SENIOR LECTURER OR LECTURER IN SOCIOLOGY The appointee will assist generally in the sociological work of the Department and applicants should indicate their particular teaching and research interests. SENIOR LECTURER OR LECTURER IN ZOOLOGY An appointment is required in animal physiology. Preference may be given to applicants experienced in insect physiology. The salary range for Assistant Lecturers is $3359 to $4255 p.a.; for Lecturers $4814 to $6034 p.a.; and for Senior Lecturers $6132 to $7174 (bar) $7392 to $7826 p.a.
