The double track bridge consists of a total of 28 spans, these are 24/30ft and 4/55ft steel plate girders. Access to the bridge is available from both ends, and there are continuous footways on the outside of both tracks. The contractor shall allow for 100 per cent sandblasting to bare metal for all steelwork in the bridge and painting of all steelwork, and all timber previously painted. The bridge consists of 4/60ft through plate girders, l/250ft deck pratt truss, l/30ft, VBoft, l/60ft, l/40ft high steel towers, l/60ft, l/55ft steel braces on concreted piers. Rail level is approximately 240 ft above the river. There are continuous footways and windbreaks along both sides of the bridge. The contractor shall allow for 100 per cent sandblasting to bare metal for all steelwork in the bridge and painting of all steelwork, and all timber previously painted.
