It was vitally necessary that New Zealand’s beef should be marketed as a particular product—such as “New Zealand grass-fed beef,” the president of the New Zealand Hereford Cattle Breeders’ Association (Mr W. I. Matthews, of Waipukurau) said ,at the association’s annual meeting in. Palmer-, ston North. “I feel that it is dangerous to allow our industry to be labelled, as a producer of manufacturing quality meat. We have the environment to grow the best grass-fed protein in the world, so let us capitalise on this ability.” Officers elected' r were: president, Mr Matthews; vicepresidents, Messrs E. M. Williamson (Waimate' South), and R. W. Cowan' (Otorohanga); treasurer, Mr E. T. Cranstone (Wanganui).
