Doubtful if she can improve enough with that race to win this time. 2 7808 PEP (9) 8-k Having only his second race after an autumn spell but will take beating if he runs within half a stone of his best form. Won by eight lengths over a mile and a half on heavy track at Trentham last spring. H. Rauhihi. 3 2202 SKOOTA (10) 8-1. Distant second in Parliamentary Handicap but will not have Frederik to chase this time. One of the brighter chances. J. Grylls. 4 5145 FRIGATE (5) 7-12. Newcomer at meeting beat useful field over 10 furlongs on heavy track at Awapuni on June 12 and was fourth on that course a week later. Most recent race for fifth was at Hastings. B. Dodds. 5 5833 JOSIE GLOW (3) 7-12. Has had busy season, but showed she is wearing well with a third in Parliamentary Handicap. One of the strongdr chances. J. Messent. 6 1145 TIROMAI (11) 7-12. Fairly expensive failure in Parliamentary Handicap. Finished fifth after appearing to have his chance. J. Walker. 7 1320 CARAFIN (4) 7-11. Beat

only one in Whyte Handicap last Saturday and unlikely to find enough improvement to measure up here. 8 6404 GATHER (2) 7-11. FANCIED RUNNERS SIMON: Won Trentham Hurdles in dogged style last Saturday. Shapes as if he will stay well. ROYAL FLEET: Newcomer at meeting. Was "set” for this one after winning Hawke’s Bay Hurdles. Also won two starts back at Cambridge. FREDERIK: Surprise winner of Parliamentary Handicap on Wednesday. Fell when leading in hack hurdles on first day of meeting. Hard to beat in present form if he jumps surely. MOUBRAY: Dashing front runner and a good second to Simon over one mile and threequarters last week. This distance might trouble him.

3.30 p.m.— (T.A.B. closes 2.20 p.m.) ONSLOW HANDICAP $3000; 7f. 1 101 HARRY'S PAL 0-1. Easy winner on this course on

Wednesday in first race since October. Won also at Trentham last spring in heavy footing. Up 91b from Wednesday when ran close to pace all the way. Seems certain to go well again. R Marsh. 3613 MR SOVEREIGN (6) 8-13. Won well over 6 furlongs last Saturday when in front all way. Faded from pacemaking when third behind Harry’s Pal and Mr Hing over 7 furlongs on Wednesday. Sure to be very prominent but a trifle suspect in his ability to run 7 furlongs right out. D. Weatherley. 1465 TAUPO RAE (13) 8-13. Finished weakly over 6 furlongs on Saturday when fifth behind Mr Sovereign. Previously faded to sixth at Hastings and fair fourth over 6 furlongs at Ellerslie. Speedy and game but has been steadied by increasing weight. W. Skelton. 0134 HINDI (17) 8.12. Consistent gelding which turned in another sound performance when fourth behind Mr Sovereign over 6 furlongs on Saturday. Previously third over 7 furlongs at Te Rapa and good winner over 7 furlongs at Te Awamutu. Has the pace to keep up in the best company. 7514 CAMBRIDGE FAIR (7) 8-10. Returned to form with impressive win over a mile at Trentham on Saturday. Well back over 7 furlongs on Wednesday after losing much ground early stages. Capable of better as he is likely to show here. D. Harris.

4340 ROSE* OF ERIN (9) 0-5. After run of consistent form turned in worst performance for long while when 10th this course on Wednesday. Ran midfield to straight then faded out. Would have to improve out of sight on that. 06ft MIAS (12) 0-2. Ran on solidly at last start in Whyte Handicap on Saturday behind Cambridge Fair follow-

mg good third at Awapuni. Has not won since last spring but usually close up. Has to be respected. 8 5062 MR HING (2) 82. Ran fair race when sixth behind Cambridge Fair over a milo at Trentham on Saturday then improved for second behind Harry’s Pal over 7 furlongs on Wednesday. Previous form this year very moderate but looked good last spring. Seems to be improving again so worth respect. 9 4429 TRAMORE (1) 8-2. Strat ford seven-year-old which ended run of consistent form with failure over 7 furlongs at Trentham on Wednesday when always a long way back. Previously second over 7 furlongs at Hawera on June 23 and won earlier over 7 furlongs at Otaki on May 15. Paid to fancy on latest showing. G. Clutterbuck. 9a 5706 ANTICIPATION (15) 8-1. Has failed lately to run middle distance out sufficiently well after pacemaking. M. Campbell. 10 0327 PHAR LACE (5) 8-1. Dis appointing when only seventh last Saturday over 6 furlongs at Trentham behind Mr Sove-

reign. Game second time before behind Igloo at Hastings. Has ability but hard to fancy on last Saturday’s run. 11 0025 SNUGGLES (4) 0-1. Showed best form for good while when second behind Mr Sovereign over 6 furlongs at Trentham last Saturday but ran only moderately over 7 furlongs on Wednesday when distant fifth behind Harry’s Pal. Would have to

improve considerably on that form. J. Grylls. 12 0170 TASSEL (14) 0-1. Won three starts back at Awapuni June 12 but efforts since not inspiring. 13 5044 CANTOSTAN (10) 8-0. Form altogether this winter does not seem good enough. D. With ins ton. 14 8555 DONNAZETTI (11) 8-0. Showed promise last spring

and ran away with an open 6 furlongs at Walpukurau but recent efforts, after a summer spell, not encouraging. J. Messent. 15 1509 GWENDOLYN (3) 8-0. Failed to run on last start behind Mr Sovereign over 6 furlongs at Trentham on Saturday. Has speed but likely to find this company too tough. 16 2688 TRES BON (8) B*o. Had fair second four starts back over 6 furlongs at Gisborne on May 19 but that was in hack company. Well beaten meanwhile. Ixioks out Of depth in this company.
