NEVER GIVE IN: Beaten six lengths by Black Knight on first day of meeting. Comes into this race on 151 b better terms so should be thereabouts. MODERN MYTH: Solid finisher (2nd to Black Knight) on Wednesday. Bright prospect for one of the places. GOLD AURA: Lengthened good list of minor placlngs with a third to Black Knight and Modern Myth on Wednesday. KAHUWERA: Mulled his leap at the last jump when about to challenge Black Knight on Wednesday. Faded to fourth.

CASSBRIDGE: Won Matai Steeples on Wednesday in the style of a horse not likely to be troubled by a longer race. tomorrow. PROUD VAL: Outstayed by Cass bridge in Matai Steeples. Dashing front runner and should be in it for a good way.

FANCIED RUNNERS SIMON: Won Trentham Hurdles in dogged style last Saturday. Shapes as if he will stay well. ROYAL FLEET: Newcomer at meeting. Was "set” for this one after winning Hawke’s Bay Hurdles. Also won two starts back at Cambridge. FREDERIK: Surprise winner of Parliamentary Handicap on Wednesday. Fell when leading in hack hurdles on first day of meeting. Hard to beat in present form if he jumps surely. MOUBRAY: Dashing front runner and a good second to Simon over one mile and threequarters last week. This distance might trouble him.

Wednesday in first race since October. Won also at Trentham last spring in heavy footing. Up 91b from Wednesday when ran close to pace all the way. Seems certain to go well again. R Marsh. 3613 MR SOVEREIGN (6) 8-13. Won well over 6 furlongs last Saturday when in front all way. Faded from pacemaking when third behind Harry’s Pal and Mr Hing over 7 furlongs on Wednesday. Sure to be very prominent but a trifle suspect in his ability to run 7 furlongs right out. D. Weatherley. 1465 TAUPO RAE (13) 8-13. Finished weakly over 6 furlongs on Saturday when fifth behind Mr Sovereign. Previously faded to sixth at Hastings and fair fourth over 6 furlongs at Ellerslie. Consistent gelding which turned in another sound performance when fourth behind Mr Sovereign over 6 furlongs on Saturday. Returned to form with impressive win over a mile at Trentham on Saturday. Well back over 7 furlongs on Wednesday after losing much ground early stages. Capable of better as he is likely to show here. Strat ford seven-year-old which ended run of consistent form with failure over 7 furlongs at Trentham on Wednesday when always a long way back.
