N.Z.U. Rugby league squad

Three Canterbury players—E. Nawaqalevu, I. Doonan. and G. M. Teen—have been included In the New Zealand Universities Rugby league squad to prepare for the first of three international matches against the touring Australian Universities team at the Show Grounds on A Nawaqalevu and Doonan have consistently displayed attacking potential in their initial premier grade season with University, and Teen, who toured New South Wales on a reciprocal visit in 1969, has been used as a utility this year. The surprise omission was the former Kiwi inside back, T. W. Patrick (Otago). The team will be captained by the Auckland University hooker, B. Donnelly. Two other internationals, on August 21 and August 28, have been allocated to Auckland, and the Australians are also -scheduled to play at Wellington, Dunedin, and Huntiy. The squad is:— Donnelly (captain), G. Murdoch, P. Butter, W. Stead, I. Anlch. K. Barrv, P. Appletaon, P. Havill (Auckland), P. Hawker, G. Asher, R. Bainbridge (Otago), Nawaqalevu, Doonan, Teen (Canterbury), K. Branlgan, P. Carr (Massey), J. Leonard (Victoria). The coach for the Christchurch fixture will be the f °™. er national selector, Mr E. Butts, and the manager will be Mr W. A. Whitehead, a member of the .Canterbury board of controL
