Endorsement of appeal

The Christchurch branch council of the United Nations Association of New Zealand has endorsed th 4 appeal by the Halt AH Racist Tours movement and the Citizens’ Association for Racial Equality, for the Prime Minister (Sir Keith Holyoake) to convene a national conference of all parties concerned with “racial discrimination in the selection of national sports

The council also asked the Prime Minister in a resolution to act on the appeal to be made by a delegation to him today and suggested that the Government could not express its views on apartheid in the world’s forum as a “crime against humanity or an abhorrent policy” while condoning apartheid in sport.
