Established miners and oils weaken in Australia

Oils and established miners lost ground in quiet trading on Australian stock exchanges yesterday. Specuiatives were marginally lower while industrials were a little firmer. Volume was below average, and little enthusiasm was shown. Woodside and Glomex were actively traded. Woodside sold as high as 115 c but it finished at 110 c in Sydney and 105 c in Melbourne. Mid East Oil was relatively steady, but Timor fell 5c to 38c. Magejlan recovered 10c to 185 c, and 00l Search firmed 1c to 28c. Bouganville eased 5c to 330 c and New BH dropped 10c to 117Qc, but C.R.A. firmed 4c to 850 c. Hamersley continued to slide dropping another 15c to 420 c, while M.I.M. Holdings, W.M.C., Utah and B.H. South fell 5c each. Peko weakened further to 980 c. and Metals Ex shed 10c to 560 c. Spargo’s recovered 20c to 200 c. B.H.P. finned 5c to 1390 c.
