Mr Kirk attacked by British M.P.
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 13. A British Conservative member of Parliament, Mrs Jill Knight, said in Auckland today she was surprised that the Leader of the Opposition, (Mr Kirk) should be so vehement about the British White Paper bn E.E.C. entry when he had not even seen it. Told that Mr Kirk had accused the British Government of attempting to deceive the people in its White Paper, Mrs Knight said: “I haven’t heard of this man, but no-pne
of any political stature at all woifla be so forthright about something that he admits he hasn’t even seen. I would rather wait and see what your Prime Minister had to say about it.” Mrs Knight is in favour of British entry because she sees nb alternative. ( "Our trade with Commonwealth countries is falling off and we need the large market which wilt be open to us in Europe," she said. She said she considered the safeguards for New Zealand dairy produce were adequate.
