Agnew is made tribal elder
(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) NAIROBI, July 14. President Kenyatta of Kenya today made Vice-Presi-dent Spiro Agnew an elder of the African Kikuyu tribe, draping a monkeyskin cloak over his shoulders before the visiting American headed into the wild game country of Kenya on an overnight safari. President Kenyatta, who is a Kikuyu tribesman, made Mr Agnew a “blood-brother” after the State lunch that followed a 15-minute meeting between the two. The brevity of the meeting, held in the Cabinet Room of the State House, underlined the assumption that no substantive discussions were likely to be held. Sources in Nairobi say that there are no great divisions between the two countries, and indicated that the talks were little more than an exchange of assurances of continued good relations. Mr Agnew has already visited Asia and the Middle East, and will go to Portugal, Morocco and Spain before returning to the United States on July 26.
