HARDY SWIMMER.—Mr Edward (Paddy) Byrne, aged 63, of Barrington Street, Christchurch, who is a watersider at Lyttelton, has been an all-the-year-round swimmer for many years. He takes a regular lunch-time swim. Mr Byrne has worked on the waterfront for more than a quarter of a century. He was born in Cork and spent many years at sea earlier in his life.
