U.S. refusal to Qantas

The Australian mtemational airline, Qantas, has been notified officially that it will not be permitted to fly Boeing 747 jumbo-jets to . the United States. The airline had planned to i inaugurate the service on . September 3, and run three . flights a week by the end of the month. Official notification of the refusal to grant permission for the flights was delivered by the United States Civil Aeronautics Board to the North American headquarters of Qantas in San Francisco.

A Qantas spokesman in Sydney said: “It is out of our hands now, and a matter, to be settled by the government. There is nothing more we can do.”
