TOKYO, June 21.
Peking’s official New China News Agency today followed the line of the Communist Party newspaper “People’s Daily,” describing the agreement signed on Thursday between Japan and the United States for the return of Okinawa to Japan as “a fraud.”
The news agency distributed in Tokyo a special article which said: “The agreement is in fact an adjustment, reinforcement and strengthening of the United States military bases in Okinawa under new circumstances.”
A "People’s Daily” editorial yesterday said: “The agreement has enabled the American imperialists to tighten the bond latching the Japanese to the United States military machine.” These comments were China’s first reaction to the pact which was signed simultaneously in Tokyo and Washington.
