FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anticyclone is moving north-east of the North Island and a weak cold front is advancing on to the country from the west. Forecast: Canterbury.—Light variable winds; cloudy for a time, showers in the Alps and isolated showers elsewhere; moderate day temperatures. Marlborough. Moderate north-west winds; becoming cloudy, scattered showers in the afternoonmoderate temperatures. Nelson.—Moderate northerlies; cloudy skies and scattered showers, moderate temperatures. Buller and Westland.— Light or moderate variable winds, increasing fair periods; rather cool. Outlook: rain on the West Coast, fair elsewhere.
