Hawthorne, the rider of Camaro In the Pukeuri Hurdles at Oamaru yesterday broke a stirrup leather at the first fence and was In difficulty from then on until eventually Camaro tell at the second-last hurdle. The broken leather was Inspected and Hawthorne was chaned! with using faulty gear. The; charge was upheld and Hawthorne, who sustained injuries to his right wrist waa stood down for the remainder of the day, and was fined $lO. '
