Dispute delays salvage tug

(N.Z. Press Association)

AUCKLAND, June 20.

A dispute over pay rates for salvage work has delayed the departure of the tug Unit Shipper, which was to have left Onehunga this week-end for another attempt to free the grounded Japanese tuna boat Masa Maru 15.

The tug is now expected to leave seme time tomorrow after representatives of the Unit Shipping Company meet Seamen’s Union officials to discuss the dispute.

The Masa Maru has been aground on the Wairarapa coast since the end of last month. On a previous salvage attempt by the Unit Shipper, a crewman was killed when he was struck by a broken towline.
