Wage talks by Cabinet

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 21. Recommendations made by the Remuneration Authority on the Stabilisation of Remuneration Act were considered by the Cabinet this morning, the Prime Minister (Sir Keith Holyoake) said this afternoon. These discussions were not yet completed. He added that parts of the letter to the Government from the Authority were not absolutely clear, and the Acting Minister of Labour (Mr Thomson) would discuss these with the Authority. Sir Keith Holyoake said the Government caucus would discuss the question on Thursday. If any amendments were decided upon they would be treated expeditiously. However, if anything comprehensive was considered the parties would undoubtedly want to discuss them fully. He said that there had been no requests from the Federation of Labour for amendments to the law arising specifically from the meetings last week.
