Town Hall bookings
Bookings are being made for the Christchurch Town Hall for as far ahead as November, 1974, although the building will not be completed until next August. This information was given to the City Council last evening. The Town Hall committee said the contractor, Chas. S. Luney, Ltd, had given next August as the finishing time. An application by the University of Canterbury to hold its graduation ceremonies in the Town Hail next May could not be entertained now, the committee said. It might also be necessary to cancel or negotiate a later date for a tentative booking for the centennial dinner of the Canterbury Club for August 17. The New Zealand Law Society had booked the hall for its national conference next October.
