SI. dogs win at Kaikohe
<N.Z. Press Association) KAIKOHE, June 18. South Island dogs won the first three places in the North Island straight huntaway championship held in conjunction with the 33rd national sheepdog championship, on Mount Te Ahuahu, Kaikohe. this week. Results were: Straight huntaway (class four). —J. G. Calders Jack (North Canterbury), 95} points; D. E. Woodill’s Dock (Akaroa), 95; W. J. Lundles’s Clare (Christchurch), 943; M. Bellerbys Boy (Waipukurau), 94}; R. S. Guthrie’s McHardy (Masterton), 921; G. Wollasten’s Rogue (Taihape), 92; R. W. Henricksen’s Black (Huntervllle) 91J. P. Gibb's Hl (Wakefield, Nelson) won the huntaway type championship and also the bitch champion of champions award. The top seven dogs, not in order of merit, in classes one, two and:three were:
Long head (class one): G. Woollasten’s Glen (Taihape), G. J. Brennan’s Queen (Fellding), W. W. Ross's Midge (Wanganui), J. H. Divers* Bett (Geraldine), S. A. Henricksen’s Chief (Dannevlrke), G. J. Brennan's Dick (Feilding), E. C. Marsh’s Craig (Ngongotaha). Short head and yard (class two). —A. G. Dickson’s Dictator (North Canterbury), F. A. Henricksen’s Chief (Dannevlrke), C. H. Anderton’s Pam (Walpukurau), I. Lopdell’s Boy (Hastings), R. Sceats's Nel (Kaiwaka), G. D. Horn’s Spot (Mangapa), C. J. Crutchley’s Bob (Centred Otago).
Zig-zag huntaway (class three). —H. V. Thompson’s Bully (Havelock North), R. W. Henricksen’s Black (Huntervllle), G. Johnson’s Bounce (Rotorua), A. K. Boynton’s Walt (Hunterville), D. R. Buske’s Joe (Gisborne), B. E. Joblin’s Ben (Tokomaru Bay), W. Taylor’s Rock (Hastings).
