DRIVERS BAN OVERTIME

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, June 18. Wellington brewery drivers have agreed to ban overtime from today. The 40-hour week probably would affect hotels within a week, the secretary of the Wellington Drivers’ Union (Mr K. G. Douglas) said. Yesterday the brewery workers decided to work a 40-hour week from today in support of a claim by Auckland brewery workers for an 18.8 per cent increase in ■wages.

The brewery drivers met in Wellington this morning and decided to support the brewery workers’ claim.
