‘FAIR DEAL FOR N.Z.’

“There is no question that the man in the street in Britain wants to see a fair deal for New Zealand,” Sir John Acland, chairman of the Wool Board, said yesterday when he returned from overseas.

He said that there was widespread understanding in Britain of the problems that would face New Zealand if Britain joined the European Economic Community on terms unfavourable to this country.

It was almost embarrassing the way that everyone, whether it be the maid who made his bed at a hotel or someone in - business, said that New Zealand must be looked after.
