No hot pants at Ascot (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. The top layer of Britain’s racehorse population, joined by raiders from Ireland and France, will battle for about £150,000 in prize money at the annual fourday Royal Ascot meeting starting today. The annual Royal meeting is one of Britain’s society high spots, and men in morning dress and women wearing the latest products of the leading fashion houses throng the flowerbedecked paddocks. One currently popular form of women’s wear which will not be seen at Royal Ascot is hot pants. The Duke of Norfolk, who rules on these matters, has decreed that hot pants are not acceptable. The richest race of the meeting is the Ascot Gold Cup, carrying £16,000, to be run over 2Jm. on Thursday.
