“Doctor in the House”
Written nearly 20 years ago, the original “Doctor in the House” and the series of “Doctor” books that followed it have become popular comedy entertainment all over the world. They have been adapted for stage, screen and radio, and translations have been made in no fewer than 18 languages. “Doctor in the House” has now been adapted into a 26part half-hour series for London Weekend Television, under the approving eye of the author, Richard Gordon. The producer was Humphrey Barclay and the director was Maurice Murphy. The series chronicles the life and hilarious adventures I of young Michael Upton, and his bawdy, womanising fellow Students during their first year in the Medical School of St Swithin’s Hospital. The characters, the stories and the situations have been brought right up to date, and the original flavour of the books has been : carefully preserved. “Doctor in the House begins screening from CHTV3 next Tuesday.
