CONTAINER ISSUE

No progress in talks (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 14. No progress was made at a meeting today between the managing director of Seacons International (Mr R. T. McNichol) and members of the Waterside Workers’ Union, about the Government’s refusal to allow Mr McNichol to employ watersiders at his consolidation depot, Mr J. Hewitt, a union disputes officer, said that the situation had not changed, but “we believe that we will have watersiders there by the end of the week." He said he did not believe that the Waterfront Commission had the right to block labour by not allowing watersiders to work outside the gates. Mr McNichol did not ask for labour today.
