China warns U.S. and Japan
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) HONG KONG, June 14. China warned the United States and Japan yesterday that they would both be smashed if they tried to “provoke a new war in Asia.”
The official Peking newspaper, “People’s Daily,” said that America and Japanese warships recently held naval manoeuvres off Korea, and it added: “United States imperialism is bent on using Japanese militarism as an active agent in its aggression against Asia, while the Japanese reactionaries, for their part, are striving to their utmost to throw themselves into the lap of United States imperialism so as to realise their old fond dream of a greater Asia coproperity sphere.”
