W.D.F.F. remits
Remits on marijuana and abortion law reform are on the agenda for discussion at the annual conference of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers in Invercargill later this month.
The conference will be held from June 22 to 25, in the Civic Theatre. Delegates from many parts of New Zealand will attend.
Miss Jean Smith, from Kaiapoi, who has been elected unopposed as the Dominion president, will review the administrative work of the organisation in her annual report.
Reports will be given also by the secretary (Mrs P. L’Estrange), and the treasurer (Mrs P. Cook, Stratford). The results of recent surveys on education facilities in rural areas and country medical services will be reported on. An international programme has been arranged for June 23, with Norway chosen as the country to study. The international officer (Mrs J. K. Lees, New Plymouth) will present a report
on the division’s international activities. The winning essay in the Cora Wilding essay competition will be read. Miss Wilding promoted the annual competition as a means of creating greater understanding of conditions in Asian countries.
