Australian market firms in all sections
Shares were generally firmer in moderately active trading on Australian stock exchanges yesterday.
Pancontintental Mining, Ltd, rose 21c to 93c, and in reply to a Sydney stock exchange enquiry, it said it was unaware of any reason for the sudden sharp price rise, except for the recent announcement by Noranda Whim Creek stood out with a 60c rise to its previous high of 600 c. B.H. Sth rose 5c to 300 c. Eastmet, Cleveland, Murchison, and Tasminex each lost sc. Oils were firm, led by Woodside which gained 5c to 68c in active trading. In the industrial sector, B.H.P. recovered 10c to 1325 c. Myer and Comalco picked up 5c each. C.S.R., however, stood out with a 12c rise to 546 c on its annual report.
