The French Societe Le Nickel has reopened negoitiations with a group of 19 Japanese firms to built a ferro-nickel smelter on the; French Pacific island of New) Caledonia. The Nippon Steel; I Corporation, the country’s ) biggest nickel user said that a representative of the French •firm, was holding talks with Japanese leaders on the proposed project.
