Hastings work

“The Press” Special Service HASTINGS. Several Hastings horses will be racing at the Manawatu meeting on Saturday, and their work yesterday morning was of particular interest. Chili and Frigate, which are expected to tackle the Palmerston North Handicap, were impressive when they galloped, and Greenstone—also engaged in the Palmerston North HandiI cap—and his stablemate Riverview, pleased with steady work. The course proper was heavy, and the trestles were well out beyond the proper distance from | the running rail when Chill, a 1 form runner, took Imin 27sec for a working gallop over six furlongs, the last three in 44 Frigate, which has been racing well, was much too good for Squall, taking a clear lead three furlongs from home in their mile work-out, and finishing a Hong way ahead in Imin 54see, [the last three in 44sec. Frigate revelled in the heavy going. Consulate and Prince Tim were paired for seven in Imin 39sec, the last three in 44sec. Agricolet comfortably beat; Grande over half a mile in 54 2-ssec, the last three in 42 2-ssec. Agricolet might be one of the hardest to beat if she starts in the Juvenile Handicap at Awapuni. Minraine, an improver for the June Hack Handicap on Saturday, went a mile, with the final three taking 43 2-ssec. Greenstone was given a working gallop over about a mile, and his stablemate Riverview went half a mile. Both are fit.
