Nurses graduate at Templeton
A hospital efficiently run was the result of a complete team effort wherethere was no fear of changes, said Dr T. E. Hall, medical superintendent of Sunnyside Hospital. Dr Hall was speaking at the nurses' graduation ceremony at Templeton Hospital and training school. He recently travelled overseas chiefly to study and odserve overseas trends in the psychiatric field. Dr Hall found the United States impressive in that it was determined to meet and overcome medical problems. Ireland, he said, had five medical schools with a potential output of 350 doctors a year to meet a home requiremeat of 80.
“I visited a number of hospitals and formed good and bad impressions,” Mid Dr Hall. “In some areas hospitals showed excellent progress
and developments and consequent high efficiency with very good staff morale. Others appeared to have stagnated, which reflected in a lack of efficiency and poor staff morale.” Psychopaedic medals were presenteded to: Sister Pamela Cleall, Staff nurses Margaret Lili, Jean Fraser and John Heads. The Cobeldick Cup for the best all-round performance during the threeyear training term was won by Nurse Deborah Gath, and the prize for most improved nurse went to Miss Ena Te Heu Heu.
