Short story awards

The $2OO Katherine Mansfield memorial award, and two Bank of New Zealand young writers’ awards, valued at $lOO and $5O, will again be made this year. These biennial awards are made for unpublished short stories and are sponsored by the Bank of New Zealand in association with the New Zealand Women Writers’ Society. In 1969 Mrs A. Glenday (Palmerston North) was the first woman writer to win the memorial award since its introduction in 1959. Mr. R. Lord, a Wellington school teacher, won the Bank of New Zealand young writers’ award and Elizabeth Murdoch the secondary-schools award.
