Official report, prices

I Compared with the recent : Napier sale, all fleoee wools were very firm at the final sale - of the season in Christchurch yesterday, according to the J official report issued by the Christchurch Wool Brokers' ; Association in coniunction with the Wool Buyers' Association ’ and the Wool Commission. 1 The offering of 26.874 bales was drawn mainly from Canterbury, a large proportion of the catalogue also comprising West Coast and Nelson wool, with - smaller quantities from Marlborough and the Chatham Islands. The offering was a typical end- . of-season selection, with crossbred types predominating, as is usual at this sale, with a representative range of Corriedale . and a small quantity of Merino types also available, the report "The fleece wool generally showed colour, a fairly big proportion being faulted with tenderness and cotting. The autumn-shorn clips were not as well grown as usual, and showed more colour than normal. There was a good selection of lambs' wool, covering a wide range of qualities. SEED FAULTING "The halfbred lambs in particular were fautled to a greater degree than usual with seed, particularly storksbUi, which seems becoming more prevalent in Canterbury. A good selection of both crossbred and halfbred second-shear, and the usual ■ range of oddments, showed more colour than usual. "Competition was very general, the Continent being the principal buyer, supported by Eastern Europe, Bradford, ana local mills operating on suitable lines. “Compared with the recent Napier sale an fleece wool was very firm, as were better style lambs’ and second-shear. “Poorer style lambs* and second-shear ware slightly easier, with skirtings and -oddments up to 2} per cent dearer. "Compared with the last Dunedin sale, Merino and halfbred fleece were inclined in sellers’ favour, with oddments generally unchanged,” the report said RANGE OF PRICES The following is the official range of prices:— Fine Merino, 64/70s:
