Conference nominations

Eight persons will contest five North Island seats on the executive of the Trotting Conference, and nine will contest five South Island seats. Mr R. J. Rolfe, of Thames, has been re-elected unopposed to the office of president for a third term. Mr R. Lewis, of Auckland, has been re-elected to the position of North Island vice-president, and Mr O. Hutchinson, of Christchurch, as South Island vice-president Those nominated for the North Island seats on the executive are Messrs L. G. August (Wellington), H. S. Barry (Auckland), M. W. Clarke (Kumeu), C. R. Elliott (Morrlnsvllle), M. A. MacKenzle (Hawera), L. J. Rutherford (Whangarel), J. Saba (Masterton), and T. R. Thompson (Hamilton). Nominees for the South Island seats are Messrs J. G. Barnes (Dunedin), G. W. Blaxall (Christchurch), J. Corrigan (Waimate), W. A. Craddock (Westport), G. C. Cruickshank (Invercargill), A. K. Greenslade (Nelson), H. J. Hewson (Kaikoura), G. D. Kelly (Methven), and A. E. Laing (Christchurch).

The secretary of the conference (Mr J. Rowley) said yesterday that Mr L. G. Rieger, of Palmerston North, had been a nominee for a North Island seat on the executive but he had died late this week.
