New ’keeper signed

The young, bearded Shamrock goal-keeper, P. Strawe, is to transfer to Christchurch United, giving the national league side’s coach, Mr T. C. Conley, an experienced stand-in for the present firststring ’keeper, A. Fleming. Although Mr Conley has been impressed by the potential of the United reserve team goal-keeper, 18-year-old G. Crabbe, he does not consider him ready yet for national league football should Fleming suffer an injury. Crabbe, a- former South Island under-12 and 14 representative, only returned to soccer this season after 18 months out of the game because of a broken arm. He represented the South. Island under-14 against the North Island in one of the few matches of this kind to be played.
