GRATITUDE TO U.S.
Casey sees lack (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) NEW YORK, May 19. Lord Casey, member of the British War Cabinet during World War II and a leader in Australian politics for decades, said in New York today that the United States, was owed a debt of gratitude by toe Free World. He told a luncheon of the American Australian Association that recently toe United States had come in fdr “fierce criticism . . . both: domestic and international” for the state of toe world’s economy. • :
Praising toe United States for introducing toe Marshall plan into toe “chaos” that followed toe World War, h'e said Americans “poured out your wealth . . . without stint” to restore civilian andmilitary order to toe world. Instead of being thanked, for this. Lord Casey said, Americans had been “blamed, for all sorts of things you are not blameworthy for.”
