(N.Z. Press Association* DUNEDIN. May 20. Prices for heavy weight prime cattle were firm on recent rates at Burnside market this week, but light weights were down by $2 per head. The yarding of 353 head was made up of mainly quality cattle. One Angus bullock realised *224 and another lighter beast sold for *2OO. The entry of 84 runners and vealers included a higher proportion of light and unfinished animal* than usual and lighter sorts were cheaper by $3, with others being firm. The store cattle sale, for which there was an entry of 192 including some pens of well bred 18 months steers and heifers, was not so strong as recently because there were fewer buyers following it Prices for prime lambs were firm to slightly in sellers' favour. The yarding totalled 299 of generally good quality. The prime sheep yarding at 2889 was of mixed quality with a good many that were unsuitable for the trade. Quality hoggets and ewes sold at steady ■ rates, but unfinished sorts were not in demand. Values were: Prime Beef Cattle: Top Oxen, $lB9 to 1224; heavy, $l6O to $175; medium $146 to $158; light, $l2B to $l4O. Top heifer, $135; heavy, $125 to $l3O. Top cow, $135; medium, $ll4 to $120; light. $9O to $lO6. Runners and Vealers: Runners, $lO7 to $llB. Vealers, $B5 to $94; medium, $7B to $BB. Suckers, $34 to $56. Pigs: Top baconer, $34; medium, $3O to $3l. Top porker, $3O; medium, $26 to $2B; small, $2O to $22. Store Cattle: Steers, $B4 to $92. In-calf heifers, $92. Heifer calves. $6O. Lambs: Top, $7.90; medium, $6.80 to $7.20; light, $5.70 to $6.10. Sheep: Top hogget, $8.90; medium, $7.70 to £.10; light, , $6.70 to $7. Top ewe, $5.20; medium, $4.30 to $4.80; light, $3.80 to $4.20.
