BIG BED

(N.Z. t Press Association) NELSON, May 20. A bed capable of sleeping five or six persons will be a feature of a Forest Service shelter being built on the Heaphy Track The bed, 22ft 6in wide and 6ft 6in long, will occupy one side of the hut.

The hut, being built at a cost of $3OOO near Brown Creek, will accommodate trampers or hunters using the track between Karamea and Collingwood. It is expected to be completed in about six weeks. The Nelson assistant conservator of forests (Mr R. G. Collett) said the hut, the fourth on the Heaphy Track, would be built of river stone and galvanised metal. It will be about eight hours walk from the Gouland Downs shelter.
