B.H.P. makes $6.5m sale to China

The Broken Hill Proprietary Company, Ltd, has announced a 56.5 m sales agreement, for pig iron and wire rod, with China.
BJi-P.’s marketing manager (Mr Ronald Brooks) said that the company had agreed to supply 120,000 tons of pig iron, and 10,000 tons of wire rod to China. Mr Brooks said that the Australian Government had been kept “fully informed” on the company’s negotiations for the sale, and he
did not expect it to intervene. The sale is believed to be the largest ever negotiated with China by a single company. “We are very pleased

Fair, earlier this month. B.H.P. first exported to , China seven years ago, when : it negotiated a sale of tin 1 plate. The first shipment of j 20,000 tons of pig iron from • the company’s refinery at Kwinana. in Western Australia, will leave for Shanghai next month, the balance will be shipped during the next five months. The wire rod will be sent in two shipments, between August and October.
