For Angus breeders

Had the fifth column been at work? When councillors and members of the New Zealand Angus Association visited the West Coast this week they were greeted at the Franz Josef Hotel when they sat down to dinner, with a menu that featured Hereford beef among the dishes.

This was the subject of some good natured banter among the breeders of black catle, and when, later in the evening, they attended a meeting that began much later than Was scheduled, it was explained that had it been Angus beef on the menu they would have completed their meal much earlier and tiie meeting would have started closer to the scheduled time.

A speaker at this session also apologised to his listeners for some difficulty that he expected in his presentation because of trouble he had had with a tooth in coping with the beef on the hotel menu!
