INSTITUTE ROLL

A 33.53 per cent increase in the growth of students at the Christchurch Technical Institute this year over the 1970 figure was described last evening by the principalsecretary (Mr C. V. Gallagher) as “fairly unreal in many ways.” Mr Gallagher said the growth figure tended to fluctuate year by year and he predicted that the 1972 figure would be about 7 per cent. Mr Gallagher said that the steep increase this year was mainly due to an increase of 20 per cent in the number of female commerce students.
