The Queen made a final journey into the sparsely - populated interior of British Columbia yesterday, as her visit to mark the centenary of the province neared its end.
The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and Princess Anne returned to the provincial capital of Victoria, on Vancouver Island, today to wind up their 10-day visit The Royal Family, after a Sunday of relaxation, hiking and exploring a 200-acre pri-vately-owned island in the Georgia Strait, set out yes-
terday on an 1100-mile flight to the Prince George, Prince Rupert and the Queen Charlotte Islands.
At the junction of two of Canada’s main highway arteries, Prince George is a regional administrative centre for the province’s northern region. Flying 315 miles west to the Pacific Coast across soaring mountain peaks and immens ■; timberland areas, the Royai party next visited the fishing and lumber centre of Prince Rupert. The final port of call was an angler’s paradise, the densely-forested Queen Charlotte Islands, running 170 miles off the Pacific northwest coast and forming Canada's most westerly possession.
